WBJEE Eligibility 2023
Candidates should fulfil the WBJEE eligibility criteria 2023 to appear for the exam. The eligibility of WBJEE aspirants is based on factors like qualification, qualifying marks, age limit and nationality. Students from other states can also take the examination.
WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2023
Nationality-Domicile/Residential Requirement
It is mandatory that candidates should be Indian citizens. Candidates from any state of India can appear for the examination.
- A domicile certificate is required only to claim reservations and for government institutions. The State Domicile Certificate is applicable only to candidates who request for Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW).
- Candidates will be treated as a resident of West Bengal only if they have been living in West Bengal for the last 10 years, as of 12th December 2022, or if the parents of the candidate are residents of West Bengal and hold a permanent residential certificate.
Age Limit
The lower age limit is 17 years as of 31st December 2023. The upper age limit for Marine Engineering Course is 25 years. However, there is no upper age limit for other courses.
Qualification
Engineering Course
WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2023: To appear for Paper 1 and Paper 2 (Engineering course), candidates should have passed or would be appearing in the Class 12 examination with the following subjects:
- Mathematics and Physics (compulsory subjects)
- Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Application/Computer Science (any one subject from this list as compulsory subject)
Pharmacy Course
WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2023: To appear for Paper 2 (Pharmacy Course), candidates should have passed or would be appearing in the Class 12 examination with the following subjects:
- Physics and Chemistry (compulsory subjects)
- Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science/Computer Application (any one subject from the list as compulsory subject)
Candidates should have minimum marks in the Class 12 exam to be eligible for the WBJEE 2023 (Engineering and Pharmacy).
45% in all three subjects taken together
40% in all three subjects taken together
However, there is a variation in the minimum pass percentage to qualify for admission to different universities.
Institute-wise WBJEE 2023 Eligibility Criteria
- Passed ‘10+2’ or equivalent from a recognised Board/Council
- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in all three subjects (55% marks for reserved category students)
- 30% marks in English for all categories
Jute & Fibre Technology Course
- Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination from a recognised Board/Council
- Mathematics and Physics, along with any one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects
- At least 60% (55% for Reserved Category Students) aggregate marks in three subjects
- 30% marks in English for all categories
- Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent from a recognised Board/Council
- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with an aggregate of 60% marks (45% marks for reserved category)
- Minimum 60% (45% for Reserved Category) marks in Mathematics
- 30% marks in English for all categories
Additional requirement for 5-Year Degree Course in Architecture
- Candidates should qualify either in NATA, conducted by the Council of Architecture, or in JEE Main
- Pass ‘10+2’or equivalent from a recognised Board/Council
- Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects
- Must have obtained at least 50% marks (40% marks for reserved category) in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and English, taken together
- Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Science as compulsory subjects
- The aggregate of 60% marks in three subjects
B.Tech in Marine Engineering
- Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects
- At least 60% of marks taken together in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics
- At least 50% marks in English
B.Tech. Courses in Other Engineering Branches
- Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects
- At least 60% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
