The Delegated Examining Certification Program requires all HR practitioners involved in Delegated Examining activities to pass a comprehensive Delegated Examining Certification Assessment.

HR specialists see greater success in achieving Delegated Examining Certification when following a three-step process:

1. Delegated Examining Training
We recommend you attend formal classroom training in delegated examining, such as the course offered by OPM. Additional training is also available to help HR practitioners understand the Federal staffing and placement process.
2. On-the-Job Training
To fully prepare for the Delegated Examining Certification Assessment, we recommend you complete on-the-job activities under the oversight of a specialist or supervisor certified in delegated examining.
3. Delegated Examining Certification Assessment
The assessment tests your knowledge and application of key concepts, rules, and process steps. The assessment is web based and administered in a proctored setting. Certification is valid for three years.
